HISTORY

In 1994 we opened Smokey Mountain Tops, Inc with the intention of producing Solid Surface countertops for the commercial and residential markets.  We started as importers, shipping the product in from the United Kingdom.  We partnered with Tessaro, Inc. out of New Castle, England.  For the first 24 months we imported slabs of material and did the fabrication and installation at our small shop in Knoxville.  By late 1996 we had decided that it would be more cost effective and ultimately give us better control of deliveries if we became manufacturers.  We then purchased the formula and manufacturing rights for Tessaro in the United States.  Our customers were high profile.  Customers such as Eastman Chemical Company and the University of Tennessee bought the bulk of the product.  We slowly marketed ourselves into the residential and research fields.

In 2003 our success with acquiring new builders and developers to buy our solid surface had peaked and we needed another product in order to continue our growth.  After much research we decided that the product with the most potential was a little known man-made granite referred to as Quartz.  We researched the different Quartz companies and decided to approach the only American made Quartz producer, Cambria, located in Minnesota.  Because all Quartz producers were in the fledging stages most only had moderate coverage from state to state.  Cambria agreed to make us the sole dealer for East and Middle Tennessee. 

In 2006, we expanded to include Corian, Avonite, granite, and several other brands of countertops.  Now we are one of the largest countertop producers in the state of Tennessee.
